Traveling with your bike aboard Amtrak Cascades is
easy and fun.
Reserve Space for Your Bike
When making your reservation, remember to save room for both you and your
bicycle. Reservations for your bicycle are required and cost $5 (U.S.)
each way. If space on the bicycle rack is unavailable, you can box your bike.
If you board the train at a station without an agent on duty, bicycle service
will still be available, as long as you have made the required reservation.
Rack Your Bike
Look for the "fins." Bicycle racks are located in the Amtrak Cascades baggage
car. The conductor will direct you to this car, which is located underneath the
seven-foot tall tail fins near one end of the train.
Box Your Bike
Boxed bicycles do not require a reservation and are considered
checked baggage. Amtrak's staffed stations sell standard bicycle boxes
for $10 each. You will likely need to turn or remove handlebars and foot pedals
to fit your bicycle in the box. Please bring your own tools to disassemble and
assemble your bicycle.
